It’s not every day you get to cruise a world-famous, Nobel Prize-nominated, teen activist throughout the seas on your luxury yacht.
That’s exactly what Australian couple Elayna Carausu and Riley Whitelum made with their crew in December, cruising 3200 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean to Lisbon, Portugal with Greta Thunberg and her father. The mission? Get the Swedish activist to the yearly U.N. climate conference POLICE25 in Madrid.
And now, there’s a video of the trip.
Carausu and Whitelum have actually been cruising on their vessel, La Vagabonde, and YouTubing their experiences on the seas for 5 years, however this was a particularly prominent project.
When very first invited to speak at the U.N. Environment Action Top in New York City in September, Thunberg famously and instead sailed for two weeks across the Atlantic Ocean in , the Malizia II, to demonstrably reduce her carbon footprint.
Then, invited to speak at POLICE OFFICER25, Thunberg put out the call on Twitter for a lift back across the Atlantic when the area moved from Chile’s capital Santiago to Madrid due to civil unrest— and Whitelum and Carausu responded to the call with La Vagabonde.
More videos will be released on the pair’s YouTube page “during the following weeks” according to a tweet by Thunberg The very first video information how the journey came together, lets you poke around the sleeping quarters and innards of the boat, take part preparations and safety rundowns, and discover how they even linked with Thunberg in the very first place.
